For this assignment I had to re-dub the sound effects for a tom and jerry cartoon, the sounds and soundtrack had to work with the video image. I had to source the sound effects for the video so started by by finding a suitable soundtrack I set out to YouTube and found a jazz track that fitted nicely I ripped it from YouTube using video2mp3.com and added the audio track in Premier.
Next I had to find sound effects that related to the video, I found most of the sounds I needed on a sound effects website, I was able to find most of the sound effects I needed on the website however there were some I had to record myself, for example I had to find a rustling bin sound but could not find one therefore I had to record it myself, to do this I put a dictophone in a bin and shook it this worked very well, I also recorded some voices using people in my class. I was happy with the result of my video.

Task 1

            It is important to plan before shooting film or audio to avoid damage to equipment and bad sound or video quality. Bad sound over a video can make the viewers feel uncomfortable and gives the whole video an unprofessional feel. Filming in bad weather can be unpredictable and dangerous so planning is important to stay safe and professional.

Filming Schedule & Equipment List

My music video will be shot over 3 days, 2 days of filming in a house and 1 day of filming on location to shoot all of the fill shots.
On day one of filming i would aim to get all of the footage of the artist singing and lip syncing filmed, i would get this filmed first.
On the second day of filming i would bring in an actor to play her Brother, i would then get all the house shots filmed and the scenes with the Brother filmed.
On the third day of filming i would get cutaways and location scenes filmed.

Disconnected - Brief

I would start my music video with the artist sat in a room with pictures of her brother (a couple in uniform to indicate that the song is about him and going to war) the camera will be set up with a mid shot and will pan the room to start with before switching to a close up of Jazz's face to hopefully capture some emotion in her face as she performs her song for her brother. During the chorus the visuals will change to clips of her and her brother chatting and having fun i think that this will be a good contrast to the sombre mood of the song.

During the second verse i would have Jazz walk around the room with a handheld camera shot following her round the room as she picks up tokens of her brother (maybe presents that he gave to her or personal items that were left behind when he left for war) i would have close ups of the items that she picked up to signify the importance of her brothers belongings.

I would end the video with Jazz sat on a bed clutching a picture of her brother as the screen faded to black, i think that the video and the images will reflect the mood of the song

Visualisation

If i were to make a video for 'Disconnected' by Jazz Morely, i think for this type of song i would suggest a performance video of Jazz playing the her song acoustically with cutaways of her and her brother doing ordinary brother and sister things (drinking coffee, chatting etc.) i would end the video with Jazz looking at a photo of her brother as i feel this would reflect the tone of the song as she is clearly missing her brother.
I think this idea would match the music and the tone of the song, my footage wont tell a story but will reflect the theme of the song showing how she misses her brother who it would seem she is quite close to.
